Health Status
Health status of Finnish pigs is excellent and Finland is free from all serious swine diseases.
All pig breeding farms belong to health scheme controlled by the Finnish veterinary authorities.
According to The Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry the following diseases has never been recorded in Finland:
- Teschen Disease
- Swine Vesicular Disease
- Vesicular Exanthema
- Swine influenza
- Aujeszky Disease
- Vesicular Stomatitis
- African Swine Fever
- PRRS
Finland has been free from the following diseases (since):
- Foot and Mouth disease (1959)
- Classical Swine Fewer (1917)
- Brucellosis (1960)
- Transmissible Gastro-enteris (1981)
- Rinderpest (1877)
Finland is officially free from tuberculosis (The EC Commission Decision No 94/959/EC)
